Hawks Pee Wee Team Victorious at Shamrock Showdown Tournament

Fresh from winning the LIAHL Championship on March 3rd, 2018, the Dix Hills Hawks Pee Wee team participated in the Shamrock Showdown Tournament this past March 10th and 11th hosted by Protec Ponds located in Somerset, New Jersey.  

Over the course of the weekend, the Hawks won all 4 of their games. These victories were difficult as the Hawks always battled back from behind. In the semi finals, after being tied 3 goals a piece at the end of regulation play, the Hawks fought the Protec Ducks White team to a draw during the 5 minute, 3 on 3 overtime period sending them to a sudden death shootout. The Hawks scored the 1st goal and the Ducks missed their opportunity, resulting in a Hawks win and securing their advancement to the finals.

The finals were no less thrilling, as the Hawks faced the Union Thunder. Again, down 1-0 in the first period, the Hawks battled back in the second period scoring a goal to tie the game. Late in the third period, the Hawks scored an additional goal giving them the lead 2-1. With less than 2 minutes to go, Union Thunder pulled their goalie but the Hawks defensive play was strong and they were able to clear the puck to the neutral zone, which ensured the Hawks victory.

With this tournament victory, the Dix Hills Hawks Pee Wee team closed the books on their very successful 2017-2018 season. The Hawks organization wishes the best of luck to all these Hawks as they continue to move forward with their hockey aspirations.

PEEWEE HAWKS WIN LIAHL CHAMPIONSHIP

The Peewee Hawks team came from behind twice to finally win the LIAHL 12U Tier III Championship.

After scoring two goals to tie the game and take it into overtime the Hawks scored the winner in overtime.
Congratulations to Head Coach Peter Dykeman and the team with finishing a great year with a Championship overtime win.

Banner Year for the LI Rebels, Lady Islanders & Dix Hills Hawks!!

As the 2017-2018 hockey season has come to a close for many of the youth hockey teams in our area, our organizations are still going strong.  This year has proven to be the most successful in our history and has the chance to far exceed all past successes.   Below is a list of the accomplishments our teams have made for their respective organizations thus far:

We would like to congratulate all our teams on the tremendous year so far and wish those still in post season the best of luck!  LIAHL Championships are hosted by Dix Hills 2/27 -3/4 (Schedule can be found on LIAHL website). 

The organizations will have some great news for our players as we prepare for the 2018-2019 season.  Watch the websites for tryout info, coaching announcements and program expansion…..

2/20 SAT/ACT Tutoring Session Has 4 Seats Left!!

The SAT/ACT tutoring session which begins on Tuesday, February 20th has 4 remaining seats. If you are interested please contact info@lirebels.com as soon as possible. The class will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7pm- 8pm in the NY Bobcats Junior Room for a total of 6 sessions. The fee for this session is $250 per current rostered player. 

NYSAHA Bob Allen Scholarships for High School Seniors

Scholarship opportunity for high school seniors.


In June of 2000 the New York State Amateur Hockey Association named their scholarships after its long time President and Director Emeritus, Bob Allen.

Each year at the Annual Meeting of the New York State Amateur Hockey Association four scholarships are awarded to High School or Prep School Seniors going on to college. The scholarships are awarded based on the individuals participation at school, with their community, and involvement in youth sports.  The Scholarships are for $2000 each.
